Assessment method

Assessment for this course is based entirely on coursework (100%). You will be evaluated through a variety of methods including written assignments, individual and group projects, and practical tasks. There are 8 units in the first year and 7 units in the second year, each designed to develop your skills and knowledge in key areas of computing and cyber security.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

For entry into the second year of the HND Computing for England - Cyber Security HTQ course a minimum of 120 credits at level 4 with an overall Merit profile in a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

International applicants

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 64 points

Must be a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

A level

A minimum of three A levels equivalent to 64 UCAS Tariff Points must be a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MPP

In a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

Access to HE Diploma

Pass in Access course with 60 credits overall including 45 Level 3 credits passed with a minimum of 64 UCAS in a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE A*-C or 9-4 in English Language and Mathematics or a recognised equivalent.

HNC (BTEC) - M

For entry into the second year of the HND Computing for England - Cyber Security HTQ course a minimum of 120 credits at level 4 with an overall Merit profile in a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

T Level - Pass (C and above)

In a relevant subject area to the subject qualification.

Equal consideration is given to applicants who are currently in relevant work and wish to apply to Solihull College & University Centre. To apply, they must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating technical, management or supervisory duties. Any application must also include a reference from their line manager which supports entry to higher education.

English language requirements

Students who are non-native English speakers, or who have not studied the final two years of school in English, but can demonstrate capability in English at a standard commensurate to IELTS 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 being awarded on individual sections for a level 4, 5 or 6 qualification, will be considered as eligible to apply for the programme/course.
