Psychological Studies (Conversion) (Taught)

The Masters in Psychological Studies is a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited conversion programme designed to provide you with a broad and critical awareness of psychological theory and practice. You will be provided with opportunities which allow you to focus on aspects of psychology with particular relevance to your own experience and interests.

WHY THIS PROGRAMME

• You will study the fundamental and specialised theories, principles and concepts, which are informed by developments at the forefront of research in psychology.

• You will utilise a significant range of skills, techniques, practices and materials, which are associated with psychology.

• This is a conversion degree for students who have no previous studies in the area of psychology. You will have the opportunity of a change in direction, to pursue a career, either academic or professional, in psychology.

• Successful completion of this programme makes you eligible for BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC). Current accreditation runs until July 2026.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
You will take seven core and three optional courses, followed by a research project/dissertation. The core courses form the basis of the programme's BPS accreditation.

Teaching methods include lectures or seminars/tutorials, discussions and debates, guided activities and practical demonstrations, formative activities with peer or tutor feedback.

CAREER PROSPECTS
As this programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society, you are eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the Society (GBC). Our graduates have successfully progressed to further academic study and professional training in the field of psychology. Graduate final destinations after completing further mandatory study include clinical, educational and counselling psychologists, and research associate.
