This integrated programme is designed to prepare and support you for a career in pharmaceutical and cosmetic science. From the moment you enrol, you will begin developing the knowledge and skills needed to understand how products are designed, developed and evaluated.
In the first year, you will build a strong foundation for studying science at university level. You will develop key academic and professional skills such as communication, numeracy, critical thinking and independent learning, while developing core knowledge in scientific principles and their real-world applications. Through project work and practical activities, you will begin to analyse data, understand scientific processes and develop your problem-solving skills.
As you progress, you will explore pharmaceutical and cosmetic science in greater depth, including formulation, product development and manufacturing processes. You will develop your understanding of how products are designed for safety and effectiveness.
The programme prepares you for careers in pharmaceutical science, cosmetic science, product development and related fields.
In the first year of the programme, you will build a strong foundation for studying science. You will develop key academic and practical skills while being introduced to core scientific concepts. Through project work and practical activities, you will develop confidence in laboratory work, data analysis and problem-solving.
The programme uses a range of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, workshops and laboratory sessions, where you will apply scientific concepts in practical settings. You will be supported to develop your academic skills and approach to learning.
As you progress, you will explore pharmaceutical and cosmetic science in greater depth, developing your ability to analyse data, design products and understand manufacturing processes.
Assessment may include coursework, laboratory reports, practical assessments, presentations and examinations. You will receive feedback to support your development, with assessments becoming more independent and applied as you progress.
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
