Course summary

This one-year Top-Up course is designed for musicians who have already completed Level 5 study and are ready to develop their performance skills alongside a deeper understanding of the music industry.
Building on your existing musical ability, you will refine your performance technique, explore different styles and genres, and develop your identity as an artist. You will have opportunities to perform in a range of settings, gaining experience that reflects the realities of working in the music industry.
Alongside performance, you will explore how the industry operates, including how to promote yourself, develop your brand, and identify opportunities within a competitive and evolving sector. You will create a professional portfolio that supports your progression into employment, including recordings, promotional materials, and digital content.
The course also includes an independent research project, allowing you to investigate an area of the music industry that aligns with your interests and career goals.
By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the performance skills, industry awareness, and professional confidence required to pursue a career as a musician or within the wider music sector.
