Course summary

Study the intersection between science and criminal justice on our BSc Forensic Investigation degree. If you're interested in how science helps solve crimes, this course will give you the practical skills and knowledge needed for a career in forensic science, policing, or criminal justice.

You'll study in purpose-built facilities, including realistic crime scene flats, a court simulation suite, and our award-winning Anatomy Learning Centre. From day one, you’ll take part in practical sessions and learn how to collect, analyse, and present evidence to professional standards.

What you’ll learn

  • Investigate realistic crime scenes, collecting and recording evidence using professional techniques.

  • Analyse forensic evidence such as DNA, blood patterns, toxicology samples, and trace materials.

  • Explore areas like fire investigation, fingerprints, entomology, and impression evidence.

  • Present your findings clearly and accurately, including in simulated courtroom environments.

  • Understand how forensic work fits into the UK legal system and international investigation standards.

  • This course is designed to prepare you for real careers in forensic science, law enforcement, border control, and more. You’ll build key skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, all whilst working in the same kinds of environments used by professionals.

Whether you want to join the police, work in labs, or support international forces, this degree will prepare you for the next step.
