This course is for you if you’re interested in atomic, molecular and optical physics, as well as experimental particle physics.

Our research lies at the forefront of fundamental physics, including:

  • quantum information processing

  • top-rated particle physics experiments

  • the understanding of space, time and matter.

The Department is a founder member of SEPnet, the South East Physics Network of physics departments, which supports vital research, teaching and development in the South East.

    Hi there! I’m Sarah, a fourth year medical student at Brighton and Sussex medical School. I am a mature student having worked for the UK Government for the past ten year, and a graduate, completing my first degree in Medical Neuroscience here at the University of Sussex. It really feels like I have come full circle now that I am back here studying medicine! I hope to become an obstetrician once I finish my degree, but we get so much exposure to different specialities I am also excited to explore.
