Our computing engineering courses are boosted by our leading research centres. These are:

  • Our aim is to develop engineers with a solid grounding in electronics and the specialist skills needed to work at the forefront of mobile and internet technology.

What you will study
Throughout your studies, you’ll complete integrated training in communications (both hardware and software), media and content delivery, and security and machine learning.

After a year covering important concepts in programming and electronics, you’ll study advanced modules in topics such as mobile communications, digital signal processing and artificial intelligence.

A level - AAA - AAB

Overall: AAA-AAB We do not include General Studies or Critical Thinking in our offers. Required Subjects: Mathematics and another STEM subject. Applicants taking the Science Practical Endorsement are required to pass.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*DD - DDD

Overall: D*DD-DDD in the BTEC Extended Diploma and A-Level Mathematics grade B Required Subjects: BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science or Engineering. A-Level Mathematics grade B.

Access to HE Diploma

Overall: QAA-recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 Credits overall including 45 level 3 credits at Distinction - 39 level 3 credits at Distinction and 6 level 3 credits at Merit. Additionally, A-Level Mathematics grade B. Required Subjects: Modules must be in relevant subjects, and A-Level Mathematics grade B

Scottish Higher - AAAAB - AAABB

Overall: AAAAB-AAABB Required Subjects: Mathematics and another STEM subject. GCSE or Equivalent: English Language: Scottish National 5 - C

Scottish Advanced Higher - AAA - AAB

Overall: AAA-AAB Required Subjects: Mathematics and another STEM subject. GCSE or Equivalent: English Language: Scottish National 5 - C

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 35 - 34 points

Overall: 35 - 34 Required Subjects: Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL5/SL6 or Mathematics Applications and Interpretations HL5 and one of Computer Science, Chemistry, or Physics at HL5/SL6. GCSE or Equivalent: English A HL4/SL4 or English B HL5/SL6.

WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales

Overall: Pass overall with AAA-AAB from a combination of the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales and two A-levels. Required subjects: A-levels in Mathematics and another STEM subject. A-level General Studies and A-level Critical Thinking are not accepted. Applicants taking the Science Practical Endorsement are expected to pass. GCSE or equivalent: English at grade 4 (C).

Extended Project - A

Applicants taking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) will receive our standard A-level offer, plus an alternate offer of one A-level grade lower, subject to achieving an A grade in the EPQ. The one grade reduction will not apply to any required subjects. This grade reduction will not combine with other grade reduction policies, such as contextual admissions policy or In2Surrey.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE English Language at Grade C(4).

Applications are considered on an individual basis, taking into account qualifications achieved, predicted grades, personal statement and academic reference. Conditional offers are specified in terms of required grades; we do not make offers in terms of overall UCAS tariff.

We understand that predicted grades are an estimate and will consider applicants who have predicted grades that are a little lower than our published requirement. Any offers we make will align with the grades shown above unless a grade reduction can be offered under our Contextual Admissions policy or our In2Surrey scheme.
