Turn your passion for helping people into a career with our BA Social Work course. As a social worker, you'll play a vital role in protecting vulnerable individuals, championing human rights and empowering positive changes.
You’ll learn about all areas of social work for adults, children and families. Topics include law for social work, mental distress, human growth and development, and social work communication skills. Highlights of the course are the two placements where you’ll work in different areas of social work.
We offer 30 skill days which introduce different elements of social work from court skills to interview skills. These provide you with extra knowledge and confidence for your future career.
We want you to succeed so provide outstanding personal and academic support via your personal tutor, lecturers and placement practice educators. There is also a peer-mentoring scheme to help you settle into university study and life.
Our course is regulated by Social Work England and prepares you to practice in both adult and children's services. Successful completion of the course makes you eligible to apply for registration as a social worker with Social Work England.

Applicants to this course may be eligible for our Additional Qualifications Offer Reduction Scheme. If you achieve a grade A in an EPQ, Core Maths*, IB Extended Essay or additional AS level qualification* then you will receive a one grade reduced offer for this course.
Please note that if you qualify for an enhanced contextual offer or receive an alternative offer based on taking four A levels, your additional qualification will not be taken into consideration as we are unable to make any further adjustments to your offer.

If you need support to meet the required level, you may be able to attend a Presessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) course. Our Centre for English Language Education is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK. if you successfully complete your presessional course to the required level, you can then progress to your degree course. This means that you won't need to retake IELTS or equivalent. |
