This four-year degree provides a strong foundation in financial and managerial accounting, investment, and finance. In addition to academic learning, you’ll spend your third year on a paid industry placement, gaining valuable real-world experience with leading firms such as JP Morgan, Deloitte, or EY. You’ll explore pathways toward professional accountancy recognition while gaining expertise in areas such as international banking, marketing, HR, or project management. The course is designed to help you understand and apply key theories and practices in audit, taxation, and financial reporting, with opportunities to present assignments to audit partners from PwC.

OOn our Accounting and Finance course you'll learn how to prepare and interpret financial and managerial information for a variety of users with a sound understanding of investment and finance.

Additional Core/Compulsory modules you will study include Financial Management; Portfolio Theory and Capital Markets; and Law. Optional modules are varied and may include Business Analytics; Sustainability Reporting, Corporate Governance; Islamic Banking; International Banking; Futures and Options; Advanced Taxation; Strategic Management; Management Ethics; Human Resource Management and Marketing in a Digital Age.

Assessment method

We'll assess you using dissertations; essays; individual and group projects; written exams.

Scottish Higher

We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).

Unless a more advanced level (Higher or Advanced Higher) is specified in the stated entry requirements, all applicants will be required to have achieved a pass in Mathematics and English at Standard Grade, Grade 3 or National 5, Grade C, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4

Applicants must hold GCSE English language (or GCSE English) (minimum grade 4/C) and mathematics (minimum grade 6*/B).

  • Grade 5 in mathematics (in the new reformed GCSE's) can be accepted if an applicant has grade B in A levels Maths, Physics, Economics, Geography, Psychology or Business.

Please note we cannot accept a grade 5 in mathematics if you are studying other qualifications, the requirement is a grade 6.

Scottish Advanced Higher

Offers will be based on exams being taken at the end of S6. Subjects taken and qualifications achieved in S5 will be reviewed. Careful consideration will be given to an individual’s academic achievement, taking in to account the context and circumstances of their pre-university education. Typical offer: Pass, with 34 points overall with 17 points at Higher Level and grade 4 at SL in Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation.

Cambridge Pre-U's can be used in combination with other qualifications such as A Levels to achieve the equivalent of the typical offer but care must be taken with subjects when combining qualifications. As per our A level restricted subjects, we can only accept one restricted subject

We welcome applicants with other qualifications eg. European Baccalaureate, International Foundation Programmes in the UK. You will be expected to attain an equivalent standard to the A level applicant.
