Our Food Business Management and Marketing BSc degree has a primary focus on:

food production
consumption
consumer behaviour

We’ll explore how social science, natural science and business subjects apply to food businesses.

You’ll also study the principles of management, economics, marketing and finance. And how these apply to the management of sustainable food businesses and the global food sector.

The key topics include:

marketing and consumer behaviour
global economics
sustainability
business management
food science and technology
new food product development

By the end of this degree, you’ll have the necessary skills for a career in the food business and the agri-food sector. You’ll be able to:

analyse problems
think critically
propose alternative solutions

This degree is for anyone who wants to pursue a management career. It could be in food processing, retail or the food service sector.

You'll also be prepared for a range of careers in the global food supply chain management sector. You’ll have a solid understanding of the complexity of the global food chain system.

UCAS Tariff Not accepted

A level ABB

ABB excluding General Studies. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required if not taken at A or AS level.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) DDD

Business-related subjects preferred. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required.

Access to HE Diploma D: 30 credits M: 15 credits

45 level 3 credits with 30 level credits at Distinction and 15 level 3 credits at Merit. Level 3 units in business, marketing or economics are desirable. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required.

Scottish Higher AABBB

AABBB at Higher Grade. Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in Higher Mathematics is required. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme 32 points

32 points overall. Mathematics or Mathematical Studies is required at Standard Level grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Extended Project

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that is it designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) H1, H2, H2, H3, H3

H1H2H2H3H3 normally including Mathematics. If not offered at Higher Level then Mathematics at Ordinary Level 2 will be required.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal D3, M2, M2

D3 M2 M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required if not taken at higher level.

T Level D

This course accepts the Digital Production, Design and Development and Agriculture T Level on a case by case basis. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required.
