About the course

BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies explores how young children develop, learn and experience the world from birth to eight years. The course is designed for students who want to understand childhood from social, psychological and educational perspectives, and who are interested in working with children, families and communities.

You will examine contemporary issues affecting young children and early years provision, linking theory to practice through critical reflection and research. The course supports students aiming for careers in early childhood education, care, policy and related professional fields.
