About the course

BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies explores how young children develop, learn and experience the world from birth to eight years. The course is designed for students who want to understand childhood from social, psychological and educational perspectives, and who are interested in working with children, families and communities.

You will examine contemporary issues affecting young children and early years provision, linking theory to practice through critical reflection and research. The course supports students aiming for careers in early childhood education, care, policy and related professional fields.

What you’ll study

You’ll build a solid foundation in early childhood studies, while gaining professional skills valued across education, health and social care sectors, including child development analysis, observation skills, research methods, reflective practice and professional communication.

Modules offered can vary each year but may include:

• Researching Early Childhood

• Early Childhood Studies Dissertation
