Course summary

The MSc in Applied Finance and Wealth Management is a 16-month postgraduate programme (12 months of taught study followed by a 4-month internship or professional placement) designed to equip graduates for a wide range of careers within the global financial services sector.

This programme integrates applied finance theory with practical wealth management practice, enabling students to develop a robust understanding of financial markets alongside the professional skills required by modern wealth and investment management roles. Graduates will gain a comprehensive skill set that balances academic rigour with real-world application, essential for success in today’s rapidly evolving and increasingly disrupted financial environment.

Reflecting the dynamic nature of the financial landscape, the curriculum addresses critical contemporary themes including financial technology (FinTech), sustainable and responsible finance, and data-driven financial decision-making. These areas ensure students are well prepared to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities across the finance and wealth management industries.

A strong emphasis is placed on experiential learning, with teaching informed by real-world business cases and industry practice. Students will develop practical knowledge in wealth planning, portfolio construction, and investment management, while also exploring the role of FinTech in financial advice. Particular attention is given to the impact of automation and digital innovation, including robo-advisory services, on the future of wealth management.

The programme culminates in an applied research project and industry-focused capstone, allowing students to engage directly with real financial problems and industry partners, and to demonstrate their analytical, research, and professional capabilities.

Note: This programme is offered by S P Jain London School of Management which accredited by the Office for Students (OfS).
Students have the option of doing the first term in at S P Jain Global School of Management and then transferring into the London programme.
