What is building services engineering (BSE)?
Building services engineering, also called engineering services, helps clients develop greener products and technology to solve problems in indoor environments. Engineering services play an integral part in the comfort and sustainability of modern-day living and working.
As part of this course, you'll:
Build expertise as you analyse mechanical and electrical engineering systems within buildings
Understand the techniques behind low-carbon design and renewable energy systems
Refine your skills using industry-standard design and energy analysis software applications
Identify the complex needs of diverse clients and unfamiliar environments
Understand the role building services engineering plays in providing efficient and cost-effective solutions to the climate crisis

Completing this course will enhance your employability prospects, making you a desirable candidate to companies around the world. You’ll gain relevant experience in the industry and will be able to apply for associate membership of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and attain Incorporated Engineer Status with the Engineering Council.
Hands-on experience
You could study this course with the option to undertake a placement in industry. This will enable you to gain appropriate work experience and the opportunity to work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.

Grades BB in two A Levels or equivalent, must include Mathematics and a Science subject. If you are studying Biology, Chemistry or Physics to meet this requirement you must also achieve a `Pass' in the practical assessment, where that practical assessment is separated (from 2017)
GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 4 or above (Grade C for GCSEs taken before 2017) or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs.
