Course summary
The BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking (Two-Year) course prepares the next generation of screen creatives. It builds creative and technical skills essential to succeed in today’s film, television, and new media industries. Our professional tutors and high-calibre guest speakers teach the fundamentals of storytelling, production, technical, and screen business skills.
Gain experience across filmmaking and screen disciplines such as screenwriting, producing, directing, camera and lighting, and editing.

Assessment method
We include a diverse range of learning and teaching methods, which include: Productions Seminar-style Group Teaching Tutorials Practical Group Work Formative Feedback through Critiques, Pitches, Screenings, and Reflective Sessions Work-integrated Learning Authentic Assessment We use a wide range of assessment methods, which include portfolios, performances, research presentations, and reflective work.

LANGUAGE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Students applying for a visa via the Student Route must provide evidence of their English language ability. The following tests are satisfactory to demonstrate this: IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge PET, ESOL Skills for Life Level 1 and 2, Trinity Level 1.
IELTS – BA (Hons) Practical Filmmaking: Students need to achieve an IELTS overall score of at least 6.0 with at least 5.5 in writing, listening, reading and speaking.

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - 80 points
Minimum of 2 A-levels at Grade B or above (80 UCAS), OR BTEC Level 3 equivalent, and normally three GCSEs at a minimum grade C/4, including English Language.
Mature applicants (19+) who do not hold the minimum entry criteria can be considered for RPP – Recognition of Prior Practice. This is an essay-based submission focused on prior professional practice or experiential learning.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMP
Access to HE Diploma - M: 24 credits P: 36 credits
Pass with 60 credits overall. At least 45 credits at level 3, with 24 credits at merit or above.
Attendance at Applicant Day - Applicants who meet the academic entry requirements will be invited to prepare for and participate in an applicant day held at our campus locations.
Portfolio
All applicants who demonstrate the potential to meet the entry requirements through their UCAS application will be invited to submit a show-reel and / or portfolio which will be reviewed by the Admissions Tutor.

English language requirements
