​The LLB Law with Politics with Professional Placement covers all the Foundations of Legal Knowledge enabling you to pursue a legal career while developing acute political insight by analysing the wider political contexts in which law and legal systems are embedded. The course delivers a rigorous understanding of legal principles as well as an examination of law in different theoretical and social contexts with a constant eye on regional and global developments. You will 'learn by doing' from your first week at university as you tackle real world problems using both your subjects, including the immersive learning events. You will work together with other students in small groups in both law and politics, taking part in mock trials and negotiations, developing communication strategies, drafting legal documents, and producing policy briefs. By co-creating your learning experience with law firms, parliament, local government, NGOs, and non-profit organisations we enable our graduates to be ‘the most useful person in the room’ for any organisation they join.

​Spending up to a year carrying out a professional placement with a law firm or an in-house legal team as part of your degree programme is an invaluable opportunity. You will take full responsibility for finding and organising your placement in a legal setting of your choosing (either in the UK or abroad), with preparation, support and approval from the University. You will develop and deepen your understanding of business and legal practices. The programme is designed to provide a first-hand understanding of a professional working environment through the enhancement of key transferable skills such as working with others, problem solving and communication. This unlocks a world of experience that allows you to develop essential employability and interpersonal skills that relate to your degree and future career.
