Course summary

Artificial Intelligence is transforming every sector, from healthcare and finance to autonomous systems, creative technologies and intelligent data analysis. This MSci with Foundation Year provides a supportive route into advanced AI study, beginning with core preparation in programming, web development, computer systems, discrete mathematics, probability, statistics, employability skills and a group software project.

After the Foundation Year, you will progress through the full integrated master’s degree, building strong foundations in Java, algorithms, databases, mathematics, statistics and software engineering before specialising in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, agentic AI, multi-agent systems, MLOps, neural computing and knowledge graphs.

You will learn through lectures, tutorials, supervised labs, group projects and substantial individual project work, applying theory to real AI development environments. The course culminates in a 450-hour individual AI project, with an optional placement year helping you build professional experience and a strong technical portfolio.
