Careers in Racing - Discover the opportunities to start a career in sport
There are many Early Career Programmes and qualifications available in Horseracing from Apprenticeships to Degrees. Apprenticeship Training can take place at the British Racing School, National Horseracing College, The National Stud and Scottish Racing Academy. We also have options such as the British Horseracing Development Programme, Step on Track Programme and the Racing Media Academy.
Careers in Racing showcases the vast amount of jobs in the horseracing industry via apprenticeships, training and jobs. Horseracing is a great place to work! Did you know we are the second largest spectator sport after football? With 59 racecourses throughout the UK from as high as Perth in Scotland, down to Exeter in the South- West you are never too far from the sporting action. Racing takes place all year round and as a major sport we need skills ranging from business and hospitality, to horse care and grounds maintenance. I chose a Business Apprenticeship as I understood and saw my career path would benefit from building knowledge and experience, I wouldn’t necessarily get this at College or University. Another reason I chose an apprenticeship is for my future employers to see that I have gained real work experience whilst learning

Our free to attend Explore Racing Days are a great way to find out more about the industry, the opportunities available and careers paths. You can ask all the questions you might have – things like, Where can I train? Do I have to ride? What non riding jobs could I do? Can I get work experience? What are the horses like? When can I start?
