National Energy System Operator

National Energy System Operator

Creating a world where everyone has access to reliable, clean and affordable energy.

NESO is the National Energy System Operator for Great Britain. We move power around Great Britain to keep homes and businesses supplied with the energy they need 24/7, 365 days a year. This is the first time in Great Britain that one organisation will plan and operate the whole energy system.

Are you passionate about changing the way in which we use energy for generations to come? There has never been a more exciting time to join the energy industry. By joining NESO as a Graduate or Undergraduate you will be at the heart of keeping GB’s electricity flowing 24/7 as well as working towards only using clean power in GB by 2030 and beyond. We recruit on our schemes using a strengths-based methodology. If you’ve got a passion to learn and motivation to succeed, we will teach you everything you need to know about the energy industry

Testimonials

I’ve learnt how to apply my academic background in mathematics to real-world energy challenges.

One highlight was contributing to the Platform for Energy Forecasting (PEF), which uses MET Office weather data to support the Control Room in forecasting solar and wind power.
