Care Leavers' Opportunity Bursary

The Care Leavers' Opportunity Bursary scheme offers additional funds to support students who have been in public care. The bursary is worth £3,000 per year and can be taken as either a cash award or as a fee waiver. To be eligible for the award you need to meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of 13 weeks in Local Authority care in the last 12 years (prior to 1 September of the year in which you intend to commence your studies)
• Aged 28 years or under (on 1 September of the year in which you intend to commence your studies)
• Be a 'home' (UK) undergraduate student or EU undergraduate student classified by the Student Loans Company as 'home' for student support purposes

Applicants to the University of Liverpool will be contacted in August once an offer of a place has been confirmed with further details and a request to provide the following evidence:

• A letter from leaving care team, designated teacher or social worker or a copy of our pro forma signed by any of the above.

Students studying on an NHS-funded programme will not be eligible for the Care Leavers' Opportunity Bursary.
