Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarship information

At the University of York, our ambition is to make sure there are no gaps in access to education for any student, regardless of their circumstance, and give students the tools to succeed beyond their studies.

We aim to provide an education that empowers, nurtures, fulfils ambitions and prepares students for an ever-evolving world as part of our commitment to establishing ourselves as the University of Opportunity in the UK.

Our student scholarships support our social purpose, equality, diversity and inclusion aims through providing financial assistance opportunities.

There are various opportunities available throughout the year. Types of scholarships include those for students:

  • From socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds
  • From particular regions in the UK, who may have faced challenging circumstances (social, personal or educational)
  • Studying at specific levels of study
  • Studying or researching particular subjects areas
  • From set countries (these are specified on each scholarship’s web page)
  • With high levels of academic achievement

Students must meet each individual scholarship's eligibility criteria.

Applications for scholarships may vary between any of the following: form submissions, providing a student supporting statement, providing a staff supporting statement, providing details via external websites and interviews.
