During my free time, I love playing tennis, travelling, and taking photos. 🎾✈️📸 I’m also a big fan of J-pop and K-pop, and I enjoy watching K-dramas and J-dramas. 🎶📺

Hi, I'm Abi!
I am a part of the University of Reading; however, I am originally from a small town in South Wales. I have always had a keen interest in Business Marketing; even when I was young, I used social media to create a platform to share and promote my journey in horse riding. As I have grown older, I now work for the University's engagement and content creation team and wish to pursue this further once I graduate. University has allowed me to explore my interests, make new friends and be more independent and confident in myself, which I had struggled with in the past. There is so much support from the university and the community, which I believe has helped me grow.

Hi! I’m Ruan, a Sociology and Criminology student at the University of Reading and an International Student Ambassador. My academic interests focus on organised crime, social structures, and the ways institutions shape justice and society.

Before joining Reading, I had already been involved in research on organised crime in Brazil and I continue to develop academic work in criminology and sociology. I am also the founder and president of the Sanctuary Society, a student initiative dedicated to supporting and integrating students from forced-migration backgrounds.

As a student representative and mentor, I work closely with both students and staff to improve the academic experience and help new students adapt to university life. I know that starting university in a new country can be challenging, so I’m always happy to share my experience and help others navigate student life at Reading.
