Hi, I'm Beth! I am a masters student at Lincoln studying antibiotic resistance. I did my undergrad here and then took 2 years off to travel the world and came back and picked up where I left off. During my undergrad I was social sec for the equestrian society so I know how to throw a good party, however now I spend most of my evenings staying in knitting and playing games with my friends. I genuinely love what I do and think that biovet is the best course! :)

I have loved my time here, and have learnt alot about how to obtain support when I need to from the uni. My course is five years long, including a placement year and an integrated masters year, and I hope to do something in applied mathematics once I have completed it! Kimaro
University of Essex
Mathematics
My name is Kimaro Novat Kairuntu, a PhD student at the University of Essex in the UK. My educational background is a blend of economics and mathematics, with a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines. I advanced my expertise by earning an MSc in Applied Mathematics, where I deepened my understanding of complex mathematical concepts and their real-world applications. Currently, my PhD research focuses on financial derivatives, a field that combines my passion for mathematical modeling with practical financial applications.
Looking ahead, my career plans involve advancing the intersection of applied mathematics and finance, particularly in financial derivatives. My educational journey and professional experiences have provided me with a strong foundation to contribute meaningfully to both academia and industry. I am eager to develop innovative research and practical solutions that address financial challenges.
My passion lies in the intricate domain of financial derivatives, where applied mathematics is essential for creating models that predict market behavior and manage financial risk. I am particularly drawn to how mathematical theories can be transformed into tools that enhance decision-making in the financial industry. This passion drives my research and fuels my ambition to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and practical finance.

Mathematics [BSc/MA/MA(SocSci)/MSci]
I have a lot of passions and hobbies that vary across many different areas; for example, I am an avid reader and studied English Literature for a long time, even though I am doing a Maths degree. I also love space and astronomy and have pursued this outside my academics. My mixed interests have always confused me and intrigued others - I have learned to embrace all the different things that makes my character!
Prasande
University of Southampton
Mathematics
Hi! I’m a 4th year Maths student doing an integrated masters. Outside of my course I spend a lot of time at the gym and enjoy trying new sports and hobbies - at uni I’ve tried things like Bharathanatyam, Muay Thai and rock climbing (still figuring out what I enjoy most!).
Recently I’ve been taking quite a few stats modules and I’m thinking about going into something like actuarial work after graduating, but I’m still exploring different options.
Feel free to message me if you want to ask about studying maths, balancing uni with hobbies, or just what student life is like!
