About us

We are AUB, the UK's top specialist art and design university outside of London.*

We're specialists in art, design, media and performance, and have been since 1880. Based on an award-winning campus with industry-leading facilities, lecturers and innovation, we're a close-knit community of creatives making change.

We're a gateway to the creative industries too – one of the largest sectors of employment contributing £124 billion to the economy annually – with 92% of our graduates in employment or further education.

Studying at AUB means you'll be taught by expert course teams while collaborating on live briefs, engaging with Industry Patrons and studying in a unique academic environment.

Life at AUB

We know that studying at university is a big decision – there are so many options to consider and information sources to guide you through the process. Gabby is a BA (Hons) Graphic Design student at AUB. Hear about her journey first hand, from what it’s like living and studying here, to the opportunities and resources available on the course.

What makes us different

Our courses are delivered through lectures, guest speakers, collaboration and critique. You'll work with state-of-the-art equipment in our facilities that mirror industry, delivered by course teams with years of experience in their field.

We believe that making the best possible difference in the world starts with your best possible self – that's why studying at AUB means doing it for real. We're committed to studio-based practice across all courses based on our single, collaborative campus, allowing students to bring ideas and projects to life across disciplines.

You could be working on graduate films with Bournemouth Film School, working behind the scenes on an AUB Productions show, or even developing live briefs for local communities and charities – all of which allow our graduates to leave with a network of peers to kickstart their creative journey.

My time at AUB has been more than just studying photography – it’s been a journey of self-discovery, research, and exploring new creative approaches and technologies. AUB has not only supported me in shaping my career goals but has also allowed me to create meaningful connections and friendships that will continue to inspire and influence my work moving forward.
