Student life

There’s always something happening on campus, whether it’s a gig at the Students’ Union, vintage market in Union Square, open mic night at the Keele Postgraduate Association Clubhouse, or one of our regular sporting fixtures - you’ll never be short of things to do. And when you need space to think, our 600 acres of woodland, gardens and lakes are the perfect setting for a spot of reflection and relaxation.

We support every single student throughout their time at Keele.

If you need to talk to someone, whether it’s about your studies or life outside of them, we have a Student Experience and Support team based within every Faculty, offering one-to-one support and helping you to access any additional support you might need including financial guidance, support for disabilities, specific learning difficulties and long-term health conditions, support around wellbeing and counselling, or accessing our chaplaincy and faith services.

What's it like to live in West Midlands?
Check out our region guide

The West Midlands is made up of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. Its main cities are Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton.

It’s the most diverse part of the country behind London, with a proud multicultural history, from the birth of Two-Tone music in Coventry – a combination of Caribbean ska and English punk – to the Balti curry, courtesy of Birmingham’s Pakistani community.

Once the heart of heavy industry and manufacturing, and the inspiration for Peaky Blinders, Birmingham is one of the youngest cities in Europe, with over 40% under 25 years old.

Campus and facilities

Located in the Staffordshire countryside, but within easy reach of a bustling town, vibrant city and our noisy neighbours of Manchester and Birmingham, Keele offers the best of both worlds: a close-knit campus community and an exciting local area to explore.

We're just minutes from the university town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, with a variety of bars, cafes, supermarkets and entertainment venues - including a renowned theatre - and the ever-developing city of Stoke-on-Trent is a short bus ride away.

Jump on the train and we’re less than an hour away from the bright lights of both Manchester and Birmingham too.

We have over 2,600 bedrooms on campus, all within a short walk of central teaching spaces, shops, and food and drink venues.

We offer guaranteed accommodation on campus for September entry undergraduate applicants who make Keele their firm choice, and who apply for accommodation by the deadline date (terms and conditions apply).
