    Hey! I’m Mia, a Modern Languages and Cultures (MLAC) Undergraduate. I am currently in my first year here at Durham University and I am a part of the Josephine Butler College family. More specifically, I study Spanish (post A-level) and Italian (beginners) at Durham and I am loving learning both languages in such a beautiful city. When I am not watching a Spanish series on Netflix or following an Italian influencer online you would probably find me taking part in some of Durham’s societies. I am a proud member and college representative of the 93% club, a volunteer and Spanish representative for MLAC Outreach and also part of the Hispanic and Italian societies. Feel free to ask me about these (or any other) societies here at Durham if this is something you might be interested in. I hope to answer all of your questions relating to university and Durham, no matter how big or small they may be. Please ask away!

    Hi, my name is Cynthia! I studied Criminology BA at Durham and I am now currently a 4th year postgraduate studying MA Social Research Methods (sociology) at Durham (Collingwood College). I enjoy fitness and the gym, as well as self-care and time to myself for self reflections. I also love being sociable and helping others when I can. My main interest (which also happens to be academic and a future career goal) is research work within the field of race and higher education which I plan on taking further through undertaking a PhD.     Hello! My name is Keshav, and I'm a first year, studying Bsc Climate Science. I was originally born in Germany, but have been living in England for over 8 years. I'm excited to share my story with you and help you get a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. I'm currently studying Climate Science, because of the interconnection they have between Geology and Geography. I found it difficult to decide which one I preferred, and felt that this course had the best of both world's. Taking modules in both subjects always keep it fresh and interesting. So far, my favourite subjects have been understanding some of the difficulties we have in dealing with climate change, and the current importance of mitigation and adaption. One of my favourite experiences has been to engage with world leading professors, who are currently dealing with several issues on climate. Group work sessions are also great, as you get to make friends with people across the world, learning about different cultures and traditions along the way. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, playing music, and watching sports. If you have made it this far, I can tell that you are interested!     I am interested in a career that involves foreign languages, whether that be working as a diplomat or being a translator! I studied Spanish at A Level, and currently study Spanish with ab-initio Russian as part of my degree. As well as this, I really enjoy being creative - I love creating art. I am also interested in literature, something I have been able to engage with in the languages I am studying!
