Loughborough Students' Union (LSU) is entirely run by our students, for our students, and it sits right in the very heart of our award-winning student experience. There are over 100 societies to get involved in at LSU, and you can even start your own, so you'll be able to find the perfect one for you and meet tonnes of new friends.

Of course we are well-known for our sports offerings (of which there are plenty!) but did you know we also have our own extra-curricular arts programme, LU Arts, which hosts a wide range of creative activities and events for you to get involved in.

Starting university is one of the most exciting times of your life, but we recognise it can also be one of the most daunting. Our student support network is available to provide all the care you need to settle into university. Whether you're feeling homesick, worried about your finances or have ongoing personal challenges, we're here to help.

The East Midlands comprises five counties, with its main cities being Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Nottingham.

The region has plenty of history, boasting both the world’s first factory and its first pub (allegedly). It also has many castles, cathedrals and stately homes, including Chatsworth House, which has served as the backdrop to period films like Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice.

And, of course, you’ll find the gorgeous Peak District here. If you end up studying in the East Midlands, definitely make a trip to explore its rolling green hills, peatlands, and quaint market towns – like Buxton, the caverns of Castleton, and Bakewell (home of the famous tart).

Campus and facilities

We're incredibly proud of the stunning campus we call home. We have everything you need right here, from nightclubs and restaurants, to stunning green spaces and fruit walks, unrivalled sports facilities and not to mention our award-winning students union.

By day, the Union is a bustling venue with a vibrant atmosphere. It comes complete with its own gastropub, Chinese restaurant, hairdressers and opticians, dentist, taxi rank, pharmacy and a whole lot more. By night it transforms into a 4,000-capacity nightclub that hosts different events across the week.

Our campus is also recognised as one of the UK's best green spaces (Green flag awards since 2018), and our commitment to sustainability means we are able to provide top facilities and a fantastic student experience in the most beautiful environment, whilst also ensuring we are managing our environmental impact.
