At the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), we can offer you a broader range of opportunities than any single college or university can.  

With over 30,000 students at the heart of what we do, our spectacular locations across Scotland inspire our specialised curriculum, with courses from aircraft engineering to archaeology, from environmental science to equine studies. We have been pioneering flexible learning for over 50 years, offering study that can fit your life.  

We have 48 campuses across the Highlands and Islands, Moray and Perthshire and online from wherever you want to study. What makes us different

UHI received a score of 86% for overall student satisfaction in the 2025 National Student Survey. Four of UHI’s courses - BSc (Hons) Audio Engineering, BA (Hons) Criminology, BA (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Textiles Education and BA (Hons) Theatre Industry Practice - received a 100% satisfaction rate.

Nearly 75% of our research has been classified as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ by REF2021, with a focus on Earth systems and environmental sciences and allied health professions, dentistry, nursing and pharmacy.

I am very grateful for all the support I found at UHI. The lecturers always make the best out of every class, and we’ve often been asked for feedback to tailor the classes to our needs. I feel supported by the staff at UHI.

As part of my work placement, I worked with an aviation company. This course has opened the door to the future I want, and given me the skills to pursue a career in engineering.

Scotland has among the best natural sceneries I have ever seen. When the sun shines it feels unreal how beautiful it is.
