Barbers cut and style men’s hair and beards. You need to be friendly and have a good eye for style. You’ll often be working with a variety of clients from small children to old age pensioners. Some barbers work for themselves while others are employed directly either by small independent barbers or big chains.

What do I need to do to become a barber?

There are a number of different routes to becoming a barber. You may choose to train on the job or you could follow a vocational course like a BTEC or NVQ.
