Applying to university in Wales in 2021?
You can find all the information you need around how Coronavirus may impact your application below.
How will grades be awarded in 2021?
GCSE, AS, and A level exams have been cancelled.
Results will be rewarded as teacher assessed grades, based on an assessment of the student’s work. Schools and colleges can use a range of evidence, including coursework, mock exams, and classwork.
For all vocational and technical qualifications (e.g. BTECs): where exams have not taken place, there will also be teacher-assessed grades.
When is results day?
Provisional results will be given to students in June.
Tuesday 10 August – AS and A level results day
Thursday 12 August – GCSE results day
VTQs will be awarded 'on or before' the above dates – confirmation to follow.
Appeals process
For provisional grades, students can ask the school or college to review provisional grades, and/or check for any errors before they are submitted to WJEC.
After results day, students can appeal to WJEC if they feel the grade is unreasonable, and/or a procedural error has been made. After this, students may request an Exam Procedures Review Service (EPRS) review from Qualifications Wales to check whether WJEC has followed its procedures correctly.
