Can you apply for an apprenticeship and university at the same time?

You can apply to as many apprenticeships as you like, on top of your university applications.

Applying for university is simple ─ you can apply for a maximum of five choices, and you do so through UCAS.

But applying to an apprenticeship is totally different. It’s more like applying to a job than anything. And if you’ve done any job hunting before, you’ll know it’s easy to get overwhelmed if you don’t know where to begin. (We’d suggest starting on Career Finder.)

Positions can start at any time of year, and application deadlines differ between employers to boot. But that’s all part of the fun.

Because there’s no limit to applying to them, it’s always worth seeing if they might be the right route for you

Where do I apply for apprenticeships?

Typically, you apply to apprenticeships through the National Apprenticeship Service website.

But as you’ll be applying for higher and degree apprenticeships specifically, you may find our Career Finder pulls up more vacancies. Otherwise, find an employer you like and apply directly.

UCAS top tip

Keep coming back to ucas.com for both university courses and apprenticeship opportunities.

Where should I go for advice?

If you’re still in education, speak to your careers adviser or head of year. Otherwise, you can contact the National Careers Service for impartial advice.

But while you’re here, you might as well make use of our apprenticeships hub. It’s your go-to for all things apprenticeships.
