If you wish to work in the Creative Arts industry, then this is the course for you. The course focuses on the development of practical skills, practical exploration of ideas, concepts across a range of different mediums, methods, techniques and conceptualisation that are considered fundamental to Art & Design. When undertaking practical assessments, you are expected to perform to an industry standard and use your own initiative to research required topics. The programme is designed to prepare you for employment in the exciting world of creative industries within areas such as visual art, Fine Art, Print, Ceramics, Fashion and more. You will also undertake termly industry related enrichment visits to local and national galleries and events and will receive visiting artist lecturers and yearly artist residencies will enhance your learning experience.
Specialist units will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to specific creative activities with different mediums and techniques and in the creation of your own professional portfolio including:

You will also produce a professional portfolio showcasing a range of processes and techniques, commercial, cultural and visual awareness, there will also by opportunities for suitable students to undertake work experience with local artists and to work on regional projects.

Other qualifications at Level 3 are also considered including those issued by UAL, NVQ and VRQ.
In addition, students must have GCSE English and maths at Grade C/4 or above. Equivalents such as Functional Skills Level 2 are also considered.
Mature students are welcome to apply with no formal qualifications but with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience.
