Build your career expertise
Gain a deep understanding of mental health issues and treatment that will enable you to make responsible, complex decisions and develop in your role as a qualified professional.

As part of this course, you’ll:

Explore advances in contemporary mental healthcare
Gain a comprehensive and advanced understanding of mental health issues
Consider the fundamental assumptions which underpin attitudes to mental illness
Study current issues, debates and research into mental health and treatment
Reflect on and share your experiences of working with clients and service users from a variety of cultures
Discuss ideas for best practice with your peers and academic tutors
Examine case studies, from a range of personal and professional perspectives, to promote greater awareness of diversity and anti-oppressive practice
Develop a global perspective in relation to the diverse populations of professional and service users you’ll engage with

Teaching expertise
You’ll be taught by a team of academics with a breadth of experience and expertise in mental healthcare. Your learning will be supported by guest speakers and experts from our industry partners. You’ll also gain insight into the sector via modules which have been developed in partnership with stakeholders including students, graduates and professional practitioners.

Study centred around you
You’ll build an individualised programme of study throughout your course by choosing from a range of option modules from different subject areas. This will help tailor your learning so it’s relevant to your practice interests and professional development. You’ll conclude your studies by planning and conducting your own research project
