The foundation year of this Coventry University degree will be delivered from our CU Coventry campus. Course delivery from year 1 of the degree onwards will be from Coventry University campus.
This course aims to provide you with a solid grounding which equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to design and build hardware and software for computer systems.
The foundation year seeks to provide opportunities to develop fundamental knowledge and skills in a range of mathematical and business principles, as well as the theories and concepts of electrical and mechanical engineering. Students who successfully complete their foundation year will then progress onto the Computer Systems Engineering BEng (Hons) degree within Coventry University’s School of Future Transport Engineering.
This degree is specially designed to bridge the gap between electronics/hardware engineering and computer science/software engineering. It focuses on the engineering and integration of hardware and software systems.
Key benefits of the degree
Covering many aspects of software while focusing on the advanced hardware design based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and system design based on microcontroller
Opportunities to gain knowledge and skills necessary to tackle challenges involved in the development of future technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, autonomous cars and green technologies
Well-equipped electronics laboratory to build electronic prototypes
Latest networking and security protocols in a modern CISCO laboratory
Opportunities to gain international experience through field trips and the Collaborative International Online Learning (COIL) program
