This is a one year course for applicants who have completed a Foundation Degree or HND in a related subject and achieved 120 credits at Level 4 and 120 credits at Level 5.
All applicants are interviewed, required to produce proof of their Foundation Degree or HND achievement and produce a portfolio of work for consideration for a place.
On this course you are encouraged to generate and express ideas and communicate Fine Art solutions to lecturing staff, peers, and industry professionals. In addition, you are expected to demonstrate a commitment to exploring the creative and commercial potential of your specialist area(s) of practice through the production of physical and / or digital work.
You are required to produce work of an appropriate technical quality, and to research and develop the use of techniques, processes, and materials in support of the development of your own practice. Practical projects foster your ability to identify, explore, and resolve problems and develop skills of creative experimentation and presentation in relation to the realisation of your creative aims.
The curriculum develops your professional and transferable skills through engagement with contemporary critical debates & technologies, interaction with external visiting professionals, and the opportunity to undertake work-based learning to demonstrate your employability skills and build portfolios of professional practice.
The final modules ‘Emerging Professional – Critical Investigation’ and ‘Emerging Professional – Synthesis of Practice’ require you to fully engage with your own identity as an emerging creative professional and demonstrate ambition in the presentation of work in our end of year exhibition to highlight your skills and creativity.
Assessment includes production of sketchbooks, digital presentations, or other practical, measurable outcomes to record the process and evolution of your work, project proposals, contextual essays, oral and written presentations, and project journals which critically reflect upon and evaluate your own practice.
