Apply your passion and complete your training at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire – we offer drama school level training to mould you into a versatile actor and help you launch your career.
Our BA (Hons) Acting is designed to develop you practically, personally and professionally and prepare you for this challenging industry. We have carefully designed a contemporary course that will train you for a creative career in front of a stage, screen or radio audience. You will receive specialist training in voice, movement and singing, graduating with the skill and aptitude to take on the exciting and dynamic world of the dramatic arts.
According to the Guardian University Guide 2020, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's acting and performance provision is in the UK's top ten drama schools (drama and dance category).
This course equips you with the skills you need to become a professional actor; continually stretching and challenging you to reach new levels of personal achievement and self-discovery. As a vocational actor training course, full commitment and attendance would be expected.
This course is based the School of Acting at Ruskin Hall in Bournville.
Please note: we’re unable to consider applications from applicants who will be under the age of 18 from the date that the course starts teaching in September. This is in order for us to comply with our safeguarding duties as some course content can be adult in nature, in addition to the very high demands of the course.

During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Main specialism
Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
Instrument/specialisms
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - 64 points
A level - CC
A Level: 64 UCAS tariff points / CC (or equivalent). AS Level: Must be in a different subject to A Levels. A maximum of three subjects will be considered. Preferred subjects: Drama.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
64 UCAS tariff points. Diploma accepted with one A Level or equivalent level 3 qualifications. Extended Certificate accepted with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications.
Access to HE Diploma
Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3. Accepted subjects: Arts and Drama subjects preferred but other subjects also considered.
Scottish Higher
64 UCAS tariff points from three Advanced Highers (DDD) or two Advanced Highers (DD) plus two Highers (DD).
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
64 UCAS tariff points. Diploma accepted with one A Level or equivalent level 3 qualifications. Extended Certificate accepted with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications.

This course does not require evidence of GCSE qualifications.

Additional fee information
The Government is proposing to increase the cap on full-time regulated tuition fees to £9,535 from 2025/26 onwards and the University is planning on increasing fees to that maximum level once legislation is enacted. Part-time fees are charged pro-rata, where applicable.
