Course summary
Get ready for an exhilarating and challenging journey to prepare you for life as an independent, creative professional actor.
You’ll be encouraged to take an independent and imaginative approach to the craft, as you build a full range of relevant movement, voice, musical and acting skills.
The skills you’ll learn will draw on the latest developments in the industry, enhanced by your teachers’ knowledge and experience and supported by the advanced performance technologies which we have in our cutting-edge facilities.
The Ensemble is at the heart of how we’ll train you. Drama is a collaborative art form and we place great emphasis on the individual’s responsibility to the group and the group’s responsibility to the individual. This creates an atmosphere of mutual respect where creativity can flourish.
You’ll gain confidence during your training, learning that an authentic and enthusiastic approach is the best preparation for a life in a dynamic profession. You’ll learn how to meet challenges head-on from the new knowledge and skills you’ll develop in your training.

During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Main specialism
Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
Instrument/specialisms
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.

- Audition
- After we have received and processed your application via UCAS [UK/International applicants], we will email you to tell you how to upload your self-tape which is the first-round audition. Direct applications to LAMDA [US Applicants], we will contact you to book you into your preferred city and date. [UK/International applicants] You will have 14 days from the date you receive the email to send LAMDA a link to your self-tape. For your self-tape you should perform two contrasting monologues from a play or script of your choice. One monologue should be a maximum of 3 minutes and one monologue a maximum of two minutes, please do not exceed this time. One of your monologues must be from the list via our link below. Your second monologue should be a contemporary speech of your choice. The LAMDA UK audition process has three potential stages. If you are successful with your self-tape you will be invited to attend an in-person workshop audition. These workshops will take place in London and some regional venues (tbc). We will tell you more about the workshops/recalls when we send you your results. You will either be invited to a second in-person workshop audition then potentially a final recall in person. English language requirements
You should be a fluent English speaker. Non-native speakers do not need to provide an English language test report when they apply, as we assess this at the auditions. However, you’ll need to provide a valid IELTS test report with an overall score of seven if you’re offered a place. We can only accept IELTS for UKVI.

You will require neutral black clothing for most classes and rehearsals, eg loose t-shirts and jogging bottoms. You will also need a yoga mat.
