Why an Integrated Foundation Stage?
An Integrated Foundation Stage starts your degree studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. Alongside an introduction to Fine Art, you will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to prepare you for the rest of your course.

Why Fine Art?Our Fine Art degree helps you develop your creative potential and personal artistic style, with your ideas guiding your choice of medium. You’ll gain a wide range of technical and practical skills, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital media, photography, video, performance, text and sound, exploring both practical and conceptual approaches.

You’ll have opportunities for placements with organisations such as the National Portrait Gallery, Spike Island Bristol, Arnolfini, Drawing Room, White Cube Bermondsey and Cheltenham’s Wilson Gallery, helping you stand out in the field. There are also trips to international galleries in cities like Barcelona, Berlin and Vienna, and the chance to spend a month in a Rome-based cultural research academy (additional costs may apply – see course webpage).

You’ll be taught by experienced lecturers, including practicing artists and published authors, while building a strong portfolio of work. You can exhibit nationally and internationally, and even sell your work at a show in Amsterdam. You’ll work in dedicated studios and 3D workshops with access to excellent facilities and equipment..
