Course summary
This new undergraduate programme aims to offer critical and practical training necessary to navigate the complex and ever-changing world of communications, culture and technology. Across all years of study, it aims to:
• Cultivate critical thinking skills to analyse, interpret, and evaluate information, media content, and communication strategies in diverse contexts;
• Foster effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills necessary for success in professional, academic, and interpersonal settings;
• Explore the role of communication in shaping culture, society, politics, and global affairs, and develop an awareness of ethical considerations in communication practices;
• Provide hands-on experience with communication technologies, tools, and platforms, and the ability to adapt to evolving media landscapes;
• Catalyse theoretical and methodological training via application to relevant and “real-world” challenges;
• Prepare students for diverse career paths in fields such as public relations, advertising, journalism, corporate communications, digital media, and social advocacy, in particular through industry engagement in Honours;
• Outfit students with a portfolio of practical work to serve as evidence of employability in a diverse set of fields.
