Games Art

Join our BA (Hons) Games Art course in Nottingham and develop the creative and technical skills to design characters, environments and assets for games.

You’ll explore key areas of games art, including 3D modelling, environment design and character creation. You’ll work with industry-standard software and tools, developing your artistic style alongside technical production skills.

The course is delivered through a mix of workshops, projects and collaborative work. You’ll have opportunities to work with game designers, animators and VFX artists, gaining experience of real production pipelines. You’ll also take part in live projects and industry-focused activity, helping you build a professional portfolio and showreel.

You’ll be based in our Design & Digital Arts Building, with access to facilities including virtual production, in-camera VFX and dedicated studio spaces.

You’ll graduate prepared for roles such as character artist, 3D modeller, environment artist, concept artist or storyboard artist within the games and creative industries.

• Optional Placement Year (Sandwich)*
  We have an option for all of our students to undertake a placement year (Sandwich) and allow you to decide whether this is right for you once you have completed years 1 and 2 of your course. This time spent working in industry provides our students with crucial work experience, which is highly prized and much sought after by employers upon graduation. If you are successful in securing a placement you will have the chance to gain an additional Certificate or Diploma in Professional Practice, dependent on duration.

People excel in different ways, and we want everybody to have the best possible chance of success. On this course you will be assessed on a range of individual and group presentations, and your final year project. Your work in Year Two accounts for 20% of your final degree mark, and your work in your final year accounts for the other 80%
