Our BSc (Hons) Business Management with Finance degree is designed to develop the practical, future-focused skills and financial expertise needed to thrive in today’s competitive business landscape. This industry-aligned degree combines core business principles with in-depth financial knowledge, preparing you for dynamic roles across the finance sector and beyond.

This specialist finance pathway will enable you to build a strong foundation in business management while gaining targeted insights into financial strategy, markets, financial technology, investment, and corporate finance. You’ll graduate equipped to pursue roles in financial analysis, banking, accountancy, and business consultancy, or take your first steps towards professional qualifications.

You will explore financial language and theory, develop enquiry, analysis, evaluation and communication skills, and learn to offer practical, sustainable and ethical solutions to real-world problems in diverse and global business contexts.

The programme actively engages with the local community and collaborates with small and medium-sized enterprises such as Think Engine, Red Funnel Ferry, and Southern Co-Op. Through these partnerships you'll have opportunities to work on community-focused projects and initiatives, applying your skills in real-world settings. The collaboration also includes mentorship programmes, guest lectures, and joint projects, providing valuable insights and support to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

This course also offers the option of a placement year. A placement year allows you to put what you've learned in your first and second years into practice in the workplace, gaining valuable real-world work experience to enhance your employability before you graduate. Ideally suited to students who want to develop their financial literacy and management skills, the course gives you the tools to create value for society, the economy and yourself. You may not be sure yet which industry or organisation will suit you. You may work in financial services, in local or global business, or in a smaller entrepreneurial firm or start-up. We welcome applications from students currently studying a Foundation Degree, DipHE, HNC, HND or modules of an undergraduate degree course at another university, who wish to enter directly into Years 2 or 3 of one of our undergraduate degree courses.

• Level 5 (year 2) entry

To directly enter the second year of this course you will need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 120 undergraduate credits at Level 4 or a CertHE in a related subject area.

• Level 6 (year 3) entry

To directly enter the third year of this course you need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 240 undergraduate credits (at Levels 4 and 5), a DipHE, Foundation Degree or HND in a related subject area.

English language requirements

Solent University can also accept the following English Language Test: Duolingo English Language Test 115 overall with a minimum of 95 in each component.
