Course summary
Our criminology and criminal psychology degree is aimed at anyone interested in crime, psychology and the criminal justice system.
Why do people commit crime, and how does society respond? Our BSc Criminology and Criminal Psychology degree brings these two disciplines together to give you a deeper understanding of offending behaviour, the criminal justice system, and the institutions and people who shape it.
You’ll explore the issues at the heart of contemporary crime and justice including policing and society, prisons and punishment, the politics of drugs, offender profiling, psychopathology, terrorism, and the role of gender, race and discrimination. Alongside this, you’ll develop the research, analytical and critical thinking skills that employers value, with opportunities to apply your learning through a research placement, dissertation, or community-based practice.
Our graduates go on to diverse and rewarding careers both in the Criminal Justice sector and beyond including in policing, policy, research, social care and welfare, with recent alumni working for organisations including UK Visas and Immigration and HM Revenue and Customs.
