Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps restore movement and function in individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability.

This physiotherapy degree provides you with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in modern day healthcare. It has been carefully designed to reflect the future of physiotherapy by incorporating health promotion, disease prevention and emerging technologies.

You will gain extensive hands-on experience across a wide variety of health and social care settings such as the NHS, private practice, sports clubs, charities and schools, developing skills such as communication, team working and leadership.

The programme is delivered by innovative teaching staff in a state-of-the-art building using a modular structure to deliver cutting edge content. Key transferable skills are embedded throughout the programme, helping students to develop to become independent, compassionate practitioners, ready for today’s workforce.

  • Approved course - Our physiotherapy course has been approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

  • Full membership - When you graduate, you can apply for registration with the HCPC and, once registered, you can apply for full membership of the CSP and Chartered Physiotherapist status.

  • On-site Physiotherapy clinic - There is an on-site physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic (The Manchester Movement Unit) which is open to the public and offers the opportunity for staff and students to access a variety of treatments.

  • Recognition - We ranked 19th in the UK for Physiotherapy in the Complete University Guide 2026.

  • Real-world experience - You will spend time on supervised practice placements in a clinical setting, managing real patients.

  • Your choice - The course has many subject experts in physiotherapy, exercise and rehabilitation. In your final year, you will tailor your learning for one of your modules with different options such as pain, rehabilitation in sport and physical activity.

We do not accept General Studies. Applicants must have a biological science subject - Biology, Human Biology, Sport Science or PE. Applicants must pass Science Practical Assessment as part of the A-level. Please note that we do not accept A Level Applied Science instead of A Level Biology or PE.

Access Students
You will require GCSE Grade C or 4 English Language and Mathematics but not 5 GCSEs and as you should be studying a Science/Health related Access will not necessarily need GCSE Science. However, please note that if you have gone straight to Access course at age 18 you will still require 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or 4 to include English, Mathematics and Science.

Functional / Key Skills Application of Number and Communication are not accepted.

An interview is required for entry on to this course.

We look for commitment to physiotherapy and it is helpful to have undertaken some work experience or shadowing. It is important that you have a clear and realistic idea of the work of a physiotherapist so that you are able to make an informed choice of career.

All candidates must have evidence of study at Level 3 or equivalent within the 3 years prior to application and must provide an academic reference.

A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate is required for all students. This will be completed through the university prior to enrolment.
