Course summary

This joint honours mathematics and philosophy degree offers a wide range of philosophy modules - from pre- Socrates to the present day - and has teaching strengths in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and the history of philosophy. The mathematics element gives students a foundation in many branches of mathematics, including algebra, analysis, probability and geometry.

Students on the Mathematics & Philosophy with a Year Abroad BSc will spend their third year studying abroad before returning to complete a final year with King’s. Students on the three year course may transfer to the four year Mathematics & Philosophy with a Year Abroad BSc.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma must be 60 credits in total.

Access to Maths/Maths & Computing Diploma (or similar subject). Your syllabus must contain pure mathematics. Additionally, you may be asked to obtain either 3 in any two STEP papers or a Distinction in AEA Mathematics, if you do not have A-level equivalent study in Mathematics and/or Further Mathematics.

The fees stated are for entry in the forthcoming September. If you are applying for deferred entry, to commence the following September, fees may be subject to change.

All International applicants to Undergraduate programmes are required to pay a deposit of £2,000 (£5,000 for Medicine and Dentistry) against their first year’s tuition fee. This deposit is payable when you firmly accept an unconditional offer to study with us, and will be offset against your tuition fees when you join King’s.
