This foundation degree in Floristry Design is focused on developing your knowledge and understanding of a broad range of floristry skills and techniques, supported with essential theoretical studies.
The programme is designed to help you gain a firm understanding of essential commercial floristry skills and to give you the ability to develop these skills further, becoming confident with contemporary techniques and a wide range of approaches to floristry design. The will experience a real life work environment for a learn whilst doing approach, allowing your development of enterprise and entrepreneurial skills.
What will I study?
Year 1:
Academic Skills Development - 20 credits
Commercial Floristry Techniques - 20 credits
Visual Communication - 20 credits
Bridal Design Project - 20 credits
Floristry Practice - 20 credits
Contemporary Design Skills - 20 credits
Year 2:
Floral Composition - 40 credits
The Business of Floristry - 20 credits
Contemporary Techniques and Materials - 20 credits
European Practice - 20 credits
Floristry Enterprise and Entrepreneurship - 20 credits
Learning and Teaching Approach
This programme is delivered with a variety of learning and teaching approaches to include all students learning styles and preferences.
For all modules, theory lectures are delivered that aim to deliver the core content and provide the underpinning knowledge. The teaching methods focus on facilitating a student centred approach to enhance the independent learning that takes place outside of the classroom.
What is the Contact Time?
The full-time pathway includes approximately 12 to 14 hours a week, incorporating lectures, seminars, debates and tutorials. You are also expected to carry out a significant amount of private study in addition to contact time (25-30 hours a week). A part-time option is also available.
Students can expect to receive their timetables during induction week.

Additional facilities include Science Centre, IT suites, dedicated University Centre, study spaces and social areas, and modern Learning Resources Centre.
Online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used to enhance and facilitate teaching and independent learning on all programmes.
