Course summary

This course is taught at the Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) in Guildford.

This programme will provide you with the practical skills and confidence you need to become a professional actor. Being a professional actor is not about luck or just going on stage with adrenaline – it’s about knowing how to deliver a strong, consistent performance ever single time.

Over the course of the degree, you will train your voice and body so you can safely and confidently play characters very different from yourself. You will learn how to feel natural and present both on stage and on screen. You will develop the skills necessary to analyse scripts, understand their meaning and bring stories to life for an audience. You will build your research skills and learn how to express your ideas clearly. You will gain the confidence to tell stories truthfully, creatively and bravely.

Your work will culminate in your final year with a film project and two full-scale stage productions.

De Montfort University has partnered with Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) who offer enviable industry links and will promote you into the world of a Actor. This will give you access to agents, casting directors and potential employers via your Showcase in London’s West End. You will have access to an outstanding team of successful industry mentors to help you develop your networking skills whilst in training.
