History and International Relations

BA (Hons) History and International Relations brings together two fascinating subjects that can help you make sense of the world. At Manchester Met, you’ll study major historical moments across different cultures and time periods, from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to the medieval world, the Tudors, the Americas, China, India and modern global conflicts and revolutions.

At the same time, you’ll dive into how countries, leaders, organisations and global movements interact today, exploring the theories and forces that shape international politics. You’ll learn how states work, why conflicts happen, and how global issues like human rights, security and cooperation play out on the world stage.

Throughout the course, you’ll be encouraged to question what you know, rethink what matters, and develop a deeper understanding of how the past influences the current politics of the world we live in. You’ll be taught by experts and offered opportunities to take part in real world projects, community partnerships and research that makes a difference.

This is a flexible degree that provides a range of option modules so you study the topics that inspire you most, whether that’s ancient civilisations, global conflict, diplomacy, identity, or modern political challenges. You’ll also build valuable skills in analysis, communication and problem solving that employers are looking for.
