Our Sport Health and Exercise Science program is uniquely positioned within the Eco-Power Stadium, the home of Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Rugby League, and Doncaster Belles. Recently, we unveiled our High Performance Centre, a state-of-the-art facility providing experiential learning in sports massage, sports therapy, and fitness testing. Our program stands out due to our close collaboration with all elite teams in Doncaster, including Doncaster Belles, Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Rugby League, Doncaster Knights, and Doncaster Demons Ladies Rugby.

Our comprehensive curriculum includes modules in sports massage, strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, and biomechanics. Each student is offered a Level 4 Sports Massage course at a significantly reduced cost as part of the degree. Additionally, all students receive free gym memberships through our partnership with Doncaster Cultural Leisure Trust.

Assessment method

Our Sport Health and Exercise Science program employs a variety of teaching methods designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. You will participate in taught lectures, which cover the theoretical foundations of sport and exercise science, and practical delivery sessions that allow you to apply this knowledge in real-world scenarios. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work in our state-of-the-art labs, where you will work within elite sports and engage in hands-on learning.

All teaching is conducted on our Stadium campus, providing you with a unique environment that bridges academic learning with professional sport settings. Our teaching schedule is concentrated over two full days each week, allowing you the flexibility to gain employment or gain additional experience by working with us in our High Performance Centre during the remaining five days. This approach ensures that you can balance your studies with practical experience, enhancing your employability upon graduation.

Our assessment methods are designed to be broad and innovative, allowing you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in various ways. You will complete written lab reports that detail your experimental findings, deliver presentations to showcase your understanding of key concepts, compile portfolios that document your practical experiences and achievements, and undertake research projects that contribute to the field of sport health and exercise science. These diverse assessment methods ensure that you develop a comprehensive skill set, preparing you for the challenges of a career in the sport, health, and fitness industries.
