Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), our Psychology (with Forensic Perspectives) degree combines a strong foundation in psychological science with opportunities to explore how psychology can be applied to understanding crime, justice, and wider societal challenges.
Throughout this degree, you'll develop your understanding of the biological, cognitive, developmental, social and individual differences perspectives that underpin contemporary psychology.
Through our Forensic Perspectives programme, you'll examine topics such as criminal behaviour, investigative psychology, risk, rehabilitation and the experiences of individuals within legal systems. Combined with personalised support, applied learning opportunities, and a strong focus on employability, this programme prepares you for a wide range of careers and postgraduate study within and beyond psychology.
You'll benefit from research-informed teaching delivered by experienced psychologists, alongside opportunities to explore contemporary issues, including evidence-based interventions in offender rehabilitation, eyewitness testimony, and psychology’s role in justice, reducing reoffending, and promoting equality, ethical practice, and social justice within legal and correctional systems. You'll develop valuable quantitative and qualitative research skills through specialist training and complete applied assessments that reflect real-world psychological practice, enhancing your employability. Supported by dedicated psychology facilities, specialist software, personal tutoring and career development, you'll also engage with guest speakers and employer events, building the professional skills, critical thinking and ethical awareness valued by employers.
Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Psychology (with Forensic Perspectives) will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attributes required for a wide range of graduate careers within and beyond psychology. Successful completion of the programme also provides eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society, which is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
