Course summary
Our Geography BA Honours degree offers a wide range of topics in human and physical geography. You will enjoy a high level of fieldwork in both the UK and abroad, with field visits ranging from nearby Northumberland to New York, Morocco and Iceland. A dissertation in your third year enables you to showcase your skills to employers by conducting your own research alongside our highly respected research staff.

A level - ABB
ABB excluding General Studies. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade C or 4) is also required.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Applicants will be considered on an individual basis.
Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits
M: 15 credits
30 level 3 credits at Distinction and 15 level 3 at Merit. At least 15 level 3 credits in a geographical-based subject are required. GCSE Maths grade C or 4 or Pass in level 2 maths in Access Diploma required.
Scottish Higher - AABBB
AABBB at Higher Grade and preferably Mathematics. Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade C (or Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade.
Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points
32 points. Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies required at grade 4 if not offered at Higher Level.
Extended Project
We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H2, H2, H3, H3
H1H2H2H3H3 at Higher Level. Mathematics at Higher Level is desirable.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, M2, M2
D3 M2 M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Mathematics (minimum grade C or 4) is also required.
