In the UK and globally, the prevalence of diabetes has reached epidemic levels, with projections indicating it will rise to 552 million by 2030 and 642 million by 2040, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Diabetes can reduce life expectancy by 6 to 20 years.
This course is designed to empower you to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, enabling people with diabetes to self-manage their condition. Developed in collaboration with experts from various fields—including specialist diabetes services, primary care, community diabetes services, social sciences, maternal and child health, podiatry, exercise physiology, dietetics, medical nutrition, service users, and digital health—the course provides comprehensive training.
You will:
Understand the factors contributing to the global diabetes epidemic.
Support individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds in managing diabetes, preventing complications, and leading normal lives.
Use evidence to enhance the quality of diabetes management.
